Since Electronic Arts has replaced the Origin PC client with the EA app, you can no longer log into the Origin app itself.

Instead, you will use your existing EA Account credentials—the same email and password you used for Origin—to log into the new EA app. When you make the transition, your entire library of games, content, and friend lists will automatically be transferred.

How to transition from Origin to the EA app

Step 1: Download and install the EA app

If you haven't already been prompted to switch, the first step is to download the new EA app for Windows.

  1. Go to the official EA website.
  2. Find the download page for the EA app.
  3. Initiate the download and run the installer. The installation process for the EA app will automatically uninstall the older Origin client to prevent software conflicts.

Step 2: Log in with your Origin credentials

Use the same login information you have always used for your Origin account.

  1. Open the newly installed EA app.
  2. Enter the email address and password associated with your EA Account (your old Origin login).
  3. Click Sign In.

Step 3: Verify your account (if prompted)

EA may ask you to verify your account with a one-time code sent to your email address.

  1. Check the inbox of the email account linked to your EA Account.
  2. Find the email from EA containing the security code.
  3. Enter the code in the EA app to finish logging in.

Step 4: Access your games and content

Once you've logged in, your account library will be ready to go.

  1. Navigate to your library in the EA app.
  2. You should see all games, downloadable content (DLC), and in-game hours that you previously accessed through Origin.
  3. Any games you had installed through Origin should be ready to launch directly from the EA app without needing to re-download them.

Troubleshooting common issues

If you are having trouble, here are some solutions to common problems.

My games are not showing up in the EA app

  • Check your login details: The most common cause is logging into the wrong EA Account. If you have multiple email addresses, try each one. Check your purchase receipts to confirm which email address was used.
  • Log in via EA Help: Try signing in on the EA Help website. If you can access your account there, it confirms you have the right credentials.

My login information isn't working

  • Reset your password: If you are certain you are using the correct email but can't log in, you may need to reset your password. The login credentials may have expired.
  • Use a connected account: If you linked your Origin account to another service (like a PlayStation Network or Xbox Live ID), you can use those credentials to log in on the EA website and reset your EA Account password.

Missing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables

  • Install necessary components: Some PC users may need to manually install missing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables to fix installation errors. Download the files from the official Microsoft website and restart the computer.

The EA app is not working correctly

  • Clear cache: Try clearing the cache for the EA app.
  • Check for connection issues: Make sure you have a stable internet connection. If needed, try switching your DNS.
  • Reinstall the app: In some cases, a clean reinstall of the EA app can fix persistent issues. First, use the Windows Control Panel to uninstall the EA app before downloading a fresh installer from the EA website.
